Responsible for operating haul trucks with loads of extreme weight on difficult roadways. Safely and efficiently negotiate rough dirt roads and busy highways with multiple axle units, properly and efficiently secure loads, and work as a team to make sure that the job gets done as quickly and safely as possible. Back up to loads and winch them on to the trailer in an efficient manner while avoiding risks and being smooth. Have a thorough knowledge of the equipment how to operate it, inspect it well every day, and communicate frequently with the mechanics.
Essential Functions:
  • Thoroughly inspect the truck, trailer, load, and jeep/booster and ensure that all pieces are DOT compliant before entering the roadway.
  • Load, secure and unload various pieces of equipment in an efficient and safe way.
  • Obtain permits for oversize loads.
  • Follow maps and take the correct routes to the delivery location and other sites.
  • Maintain driving log book according to regulations and requirements.
  • Turn in all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Work with all Cruz employees and other people on-site to get the job done as efficiently and safely as possible.
  • Follow all DOT regulations.
Other Tasks:
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Assist other shop and operations staff as requested.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workplace.
  • Report any hazards, injuries, or ill-health to your supervisor.
  • Adhere to companies policies and work requirements.
  • Maintain dependable attendance.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 
Education and/or Experience:
  • Familiarity with driving industrial trucks and various construction equipment.
  • Familiarity hauling extreme weight.
  • One year of job related experience.
  • Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver license with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements.
  • Two years vocational training in trucking or equivalent work experience.
  • OSHA 10hr. Training.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of load permits and state and federal truck driving regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to safely secure loads for transport.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to see and record written data and information.
  • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
  • Ability to meet delivery schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to operate a commercial truck.
  • Ability to drive construction equipment for axle loading and unloading purposes.
