Normal Work Hours and Days:  Normal work schedules are 8-12 hour days, 6 days a week.  Days and hours vary based on project schedules, locations and workload. Mandatory overtime based on seasonal workload and remote work settings.

Summary:
The Grade checker is responsible for surveying the earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mining or other purposes under the direction of the Surveyor Party Chief and Senior Projects Manager and designated engineering staff. They are responsible for measurement, quantification, and record keeping of quantities for payment.  Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed. Grade checkers are responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and securing his/her Equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Stake out design features for construction
  • Shoot grades and elevations with GPS
  • Gather quantities for upcoming work
  • Gather completed Quantities
  • Identify anomalies between design and existing site features.
  • Maintain communication with project manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Drivers License
  • 2+ years surveying experience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
  • College Degree
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Trimble Software and Hardware
  • Microsoft office (excel, word)
  • Adobe acrobat
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Upload designed surfaces to GPS systems on heavy equipment
  • Hard working
