Normal Work Hours and Days:  A normal work day consists of 8-12 hours and possibly longer depending on workload. Hours and start time will vary depending on workload. Night shift work required as needed.

Summary:
The Mine Haul Truck Driver position is responsible for operating an off road, CAT 777 Haul Truck, in a safe and appropriate manner. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. Work will be performed per the supervisor’s instruction, free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs. Haul Truck Drivers are responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and securing his/her equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Operate haul trucks to transport and /or stockpile shot rock (mine ore) and waste rock from an Active Mine Pit to various Stockpile locations.
  • Maneuver haul truck into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading units and unloading units.
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Maintain and turn in daily records of  loads hauled and equipment inspections
  • Use hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
  • Operate haul trucks in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Clean trucks as scheduled and/or required
  • Maintain the haul truck and advise supervisor of any requirement for maintenance or repairs
  • Report any damage immediately to supervisor 
  • Use the haul truck for its intended purpose with little or no assistance
  • Ensure trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored
  • Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
  • Must have experience with the following
    • Off Road Articulated Dump Trucks
    • Equipment safety
    • Working on an active construction site
Preferred:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • MSHA certification
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability maintain truck/equipment and follow related procedures
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a haul truck to an exact position
  • Ability to see details at a distance and close range
  • Ability to judge the distance between you and other objects.
  • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
