Summary:
The Equipment Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for coordinating service, track all costs, and assist with E360 reporting. Coordinates projects of field workers; Responsible for facilitating repair and maintenance of equipment, machines, and tools used on maintenance projects and conduct purchasing and scheduling activities. The Equipment Maintenance Superintendent position is located at the Fort Knox Mine. This location is not a camp job; applicants must be able to live in the Fairbanks/North Pole area with reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in the documentation of all equipment and machine repairs, services, adjustments and work performed.
  • Ensure that proper safety, inventory, maintenance and reporting procedures are followed, convey problems to the attention of the Equipment Manager.
  • Review and verify employee time sheets, ensure that hours are assigned properly and submit to Payroll on specified days, in a timely manner. Consolidation of timecards.
  • Conduct purchasing activities and required approvals as necessary.
  • Pick up/deliver necessary supplies, Coordinate materials and equipment as needed.
  • Cost control/cost tracking.
  • Logistics- day to day
  • Scheduling; Equipment/labor
  • Daily updates to Equipment Manager
  • Order parts for equipment maintenance jobs
  • Equipment operations/coordination.
  • Scheduling of crew for projects
Other Tasks:
  • Load and unload various equipment and supplies from or to delivery truck.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervise shop and field personnel.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
  • Familiarity with supervision of equipment maintenance repairs and employees. 
  • Three year of job related experience, with supervisory experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A valid driver license
Preferred:
  • Current MSHA certification
  • Five years experiences of equipment maintenance repairs in a supervisory role related to large mining or construction fleet.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Heavy Equipment management and shop procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various construction equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and apply information obtained from blueprints, schematics, job specifications and manuals
  • Knowledge of and ability to repair equipment and follow related procedures.
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot equipment failure.
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to interpret and record written data and information.
  • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
  • Ability to meet equipment schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise assigned employees.
