Normal Work Hours and Days:  A normal work day consists of 10-12 hours possibly longer depending on workload. Hours and start time will vary depending on workload. Night shift work required as needed.

Proficient in hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. Extensive experience with heavy equipment buckets, blades and all types of general fabrication in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Essential Functions:
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
  • Weld components according to specifications and diligently follow safety regulations
  • Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Assemble and ensure efficiency
  • Operate equipment safety and use safe work habits
Other Tasks:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Assist other operations staff as requested
Supervisory Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience:
  • Familiarity with different types and styles of welding and materials, fabrication of metal, and the maintenance and repair of construction equipment, machinery and tools.
  • 3 years of job related experience.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Vocational training and 5 years work experience.
  • MSHA certification
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of materials and working with various types of metal
  • Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position
  • Ability to repair equipment and machinery to ensure efficient operating
  • Ability to fabricate and assemble metal products needed on jobs
  • Ability to see and record written data and information
  • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
  • Ability to meet schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to wear protective clothing
