The RCC Pavement/Dry Lean Concrete Pavement Foreman will supervise a work crew and performs daily work projects related to the job site. Primary role will be overseeing the placement operations of Roller Compacted Concrete in the construction of a Dam Spillway. Knowledge of placing RCC, or stiff “Lean” concrete as a graded and/or paved fill is required. The Foreman will ensure that all operations are conducted in a respectful and responsible way, ensuring that all decisions and actions comply with the relevant policies and procedures.  Foreman must supervise and lead work crew in an effective and sensitive manner and ensure the level of morale is maintained. The foreman must provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under his/her direction, and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and oversee various job site projects in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, ensuring that the crew works to job specifications and follows the plans
  • Establish work zones and traffic control for employee and public safety
  • Communicating the job to and with the crew
  • Assigning crew tasks
  • Use hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
  • Facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings
  • Ensuring that vehicle and equipment checks are carried out
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
  • Maintaining foreman’s log
  • Reporting on work progress
  • Daily time keeping
  • Train employees in safety matters, procedures and equipment operation
  • Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues/problems among/between crew members
  • Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all crew members by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all crew members
  • Ensuring crew compliance with project policies and procedures
  • Ensuring crew compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Recommending personnel actions such as hiring, releasing, promotions and discipline
  • Communicate with managers, supervisors, co-workers, and others, maintains confidentiality. 
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Report any damage immediately
  • Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • oversee crew of Operator, Drivers, Laborers, & Concrete Pavement crew In the daily activities of the Project

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid driver license

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Experience placing Roller Compacted Concrete, or Dry Lean Concrete Paving.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and follow plans, specifications, sketches and Grade/mapping control.
  • Knowledge of and ability maintain equipment and follow related procedures
  • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
